Re: Hello from new Scirocco owner

Ahh a fellow houstonian scirocco owner =] cool. if you drive
down 45 ..and see a red blurr..thats me =] I guess yours is
better off..my ac doesnt work..hasnt for the last 8months...
I've gotten fond of 90-air.

If you want parts..your screwed. You can try Acorn foreign
auto on 34th Street (Off 290 in W houston) or thers some place
up N on 1960 by 59 that has lotsa parts but charges new prices.

I would definitely start with new bushings up front. that
should smoothen the ride out a lot..and check the struts,
are they in good shape? has all the oil leaked out? I have
a set of Konis (yellow) on my rocco and love them. I have
also heard good things about BOGE pro gas. hrm 84..8v?
shakes bad...is the car loud? check your motor mounts..mine
were bad..replacing them made a world of quietness.

about where to get new struts..if you dont already subscribe to European
Car..you should there are lots of parts advertisers there that
lets you shop around for the best price.

If your slightly mechanically inclined..replacing struts are easy.
jack car to stands, remove wheel, unsecure brake line from strut,
remove top two strut bolts, remove lower 2 strut bolts, pull out
strut from well, and stick in new one. follow in reverse order and
get an alignment. took me 2 hours (and 4 beers) to replace all 4 of my
struts.

if you want a shop to do it..i recommend Herr Schmidt off Richmond
(W houston).
