Installing stereo - lost some lights

Hey all,

This is my second of probably many posts, as I am a relative
newcomer to Sciroccos (but not VWs). How about a searchable archive of
this mailing list, eh? :)

Anyway, here's the problem. I just took the CD player out of my
van and installed it in the 'rocco. I did it without the benefit of a manual
(just got my Bentley yesterday), but it works pretty much a-ok. I ended up
tapping into the blower supply for 12V off the ignition. No problems there.
I also used the original radio 12V from the battery, and used a chassis
ground. Again no problem. However, there was a wire coming into the factory
radio which was marked with a light-bulb symbol. I didn't really know what
to do with it, so it's just unconnected now. Evidently this somehow goes
back to the lights for my temp. gauge and environment controls, because I
no longer have those lights working. Also, if I have my lights on and kill the
engine, the CD player will still be on!

Could someone tell me how to *properly* route power to my stereo?
I feel a bit silly asking, because it seems pretty straightforward, but I can't
make much sense of the Bentley wiring diagram yet.

	Oh yeah, it's an '86 16V.

Thanks!
