Well Ray, (Oohhh I want an "S" bad...) all you gotta do is look under the
tranny and find the code. it will tell you what the gearing is. More than
likely, you have the short close ratio tranny. I on the otherhand have the
"FF" code tranny which comes stock in 80 and later Scirocco's. The earlier
Scoriccos had a little bit shorter 4th and 5th gears. Anyways, the FF is a
tall ratio tranny with very tall gears:
3.89 Ring and Pinion
3.45 1st
1.94 2nd
1.29 3rd
0.91 4th
0.71 5th
When im doing 3,800 rpm's, in 5th im doing 110 mph. I shift from 4th to 5th
at 110 when im racing. I just wish I had another 100 hp to push it faster
than 130 on the track! Damn thing is geared to go 168 at redline.......
