Re: 16v vs. 8v: Fact vs. Myth



For Kevin's question why would I be in fifth doing forty it was strictly for
comparison.  I actually took my two cars out and tested them to see where
the power was.  As for torque and horsepower curves they are not alway the
same.  Often I have seen dyno sheets oncars (never seen the actual 8v and
16v dyno sheets though) with a flat band of torque corresponding to a rising
band of HP.  Some cars are designed this way and being that the 8v FEELS so
much torquier (is that a word?)  I would have to say that it produces more
torque at low rpms than the 16v, but not more hp.  It's pretty
understandable if you ask me. m Horse Power can easily be way below the
torque a motor applies.  
I don't want to keep this argument going though just because we don't have
the actual dyno tests.  Can anyone get these?  It would be a great help for
all of us.  Who knows, maybe I'm wrong!!!  Yeah right, I know you all know
I'm right =)
