Poor Richards Rabbit Book

"I think Amna Greaves mentioned the Robert Muir book. Is this the "How to
Keep your Watercooled VW Alive" or some title like that? A friend of mine
had one which came with his old Rabbit, but now both are gone (the car and
the book). It looked really good but I haven't seen it anywhere in a
while. I heard it's out of print?"

I'm looking into this right now... I'd be extremely disappointed if it were.
It's one of the best car repair books ever, bar none. Armed with my trusty
Bently and Muir books I've been prepared for every event. ...

Bad News !!! I think it -is- out of print. Damn. This book is excellent
for REAL, experienced, 'you'd only know this if you did it' kind of
information. Like: If you have a pinhole leak in your gas tank you can
emergency plug it by rubbing a bar of soap against it. Also things like -
"and when you remove the cover watch carefully because this small, but very
important part will fall/spring out at you". He lists what tools you will
need for a job, and about how long things should take. There's lots of
jokes and totally FABULOUS drawings (they do a picture of an -entire- Rabbit
taken apart into it's component pieces, I've checked and nothing, but
nothing is missing !!!)

I'll check at home, I have a really ratty old copy that was my first - and
one, maybe two newer ones. IF I have an extra new copy then I will GIVE it
to anyone who will promise to scan in as much as they have patience for (at
least the drawings) and post them on their web page... how's that sound ?
