The question has been asked regarding the Euro spec rear foglight:
How do these work on a scirocco? I'm thinking about cutting out the hole and doing this on my car. are these lights clear (i hope not)? Are they brighter? Do they work?

Tail Fog: ![]() You need to get a smaller bulb than the break lamp bulb. The hole will be smaller. The wattage on the fog (tail fog) is less then you may think too. If the bulb gets too hot the plastic will deform. Now you should cut the traces on the assembly and run the wires to the fog light switch on the dash that is located on the lower switch station on the right side of the console. If you do not have this switch you should get the 3 position version. VW made a 2 position and three position version of the fog lamp switch. To install the switch remove the stock cover plate that just pops out and the switch slides in from the front. Run all the wires first and connect the wires before installing. An extra defrost switch can be used as a temporary switch too. All US cars that I have seen have the Defrost switch. If you just want to have twin tail lights you do not need to cut the traces and do all the wiring. The bulb socket is live on the US cars. You can just install the bulb and reassemble the bulb bank and you are done. The tail fog should only be used in foggy or rainy weather. In Europe drivers get upset if you use the tail fog all the time. The tail fog is only used on the driver side on most cars. I have seen cars from the UK that have both sides. Have fun. |
