Smackdown on VW.



I'm not sure why you called it Smackdown on VW.
Overturning the "Volkswagen Law" will most likely lead to a lot less influence by the government of Lower Saxony which will probably mean less support for labor in favor of 28 hour work weeks, a labor rate that is (or at least was in mid 2006) 20% more than autoworkers for other companies, and maintaining a work force 25% bigger than needed.
Volkswagen is being strangled and just about everytime this issue comes up Porsche is mentioned as the most likely takeover company, not to mention ongoing negotiations with labor to bring costs inline with other auto companies mostly being spearheaded by Porsche which already owns 25-29% of VW.

It's really a smackdown on government protectionism.
