Callaway Peices

Crank? I thought we were talking camshaft?
Anyway, it sounds like you have a 1.6 camshaft which is good.
If you also have a 1.7 crankshaft then that's good to. No downside to having more displacement even with a turbo.
So, did your mechanic ever measure the bore? At this point your engine looks far from the stock 1.6 w/turbo that it should have had in it.
Modified head, longer stroke crank. I'd think with all that there would be a good chance it's been bored too.
Is the engine still apart so he can measure the bore? Stock bore is 79.5mm for either 1.6 or 1.7L. 1.8L has an 81mm bore. Be interesting if your engine had an 83mm bore!!
Can you get him to measure that???? ;^)

I talked to the mechanic a while ago there is nothing special about the
crank other than it is from a 1.7 liter.

I didn't have the time to take any further pictures unfortunately.
