Rim offset explanation?

  your inner clearance would be 8mm less and your outer clearance is 4mm less going from the 6 inch/ 38 offset to a 6.5 with 40. This of course does not account for tire size, but the following link does:

wheels on your roc, do they sit the same distance from the fenders? The 33
off set would pull them out slightly would it not? (giving a wider track)


Reason I am asking, is I have run across a set of Konig rims locally that
are advertised as 9.8lbs each. 4x100 15x6.5 with a 40mm offset.

I was thinking that the 6.5 width and a 40mm offset would pull these rims
closer to the suspension than the stock snoflakes on there now.

Am I correct? - Larger offset means pulling the wheel closer to the
engine/suspension and a smaller offset pushes it out towards the fender?

I need to fit 205 width tires under the mk1 fenders, and I know I have had
nothing but grief trying this before. They either rubbed on the fender, or
on the springs. I am hoping that a 40mm offset will bring the outside lip
in enough not to run the fender with 205s and solve the problem of spring
rubbing by going to a set of coil-overs to give me that little extra room.

Before I go shell out $2-3K I want to make sure I am sizing this up
correctly :)
