Little rust repair thread on Vortex

Thanks for the compliments Julie, but curving/shaping the metal isn't the big deal. You use what you have at hand. I once needed to dish a piece of .030" sheet metal and did it by hammering it against a lowly inflated tire.
The big deal as far as I'm concerned is butting the new metal to the old metal and not overlapping it. Like it or not water/moisture gets into all the internal cavities of a car. Overlapped metal is just a trap to hold moisture and promote future rust.
Butt the new with the old and make damn sure you seal the external seams with a seam sealer and coat the internal surfaces with a rust preventing sealer.
