Sun roof paint scraped

While the problem is common, it does not mean that it has to happen.  The
scraping is caused by a misaligned sunroof. The alignment is described in
the Bentley and is actually pretty easy to take care of.  The special VW
tool that is referred to can easily be made from a stiff wire hanger.  Since
there is a picture of the tool in the Bentley, it should be pretty easy to
replicate.

In the not too distant future I'm planing on getting my 87 Scirocco
re-painted.  The previous owner told me that the scraped off paint on the
rear passenger's side of the sun roof was a common problem.  What's scraping
the paint off and is there a fix so that doesn't happen with a new paint
job.
