OK fellow Sciroccosters here it is. This is what I
have been working on for the last few months. I have
already completed several other drawings like this,
with different cars/images, and there are more to
come. This one measures approximately 20 inches by 42
inches and can be cut from white or black. More pics
of a black sticker on a white backround to come soon.
Either color in this size will be $50. More colors,
cars(namely mk2 Scirocco) and sizes will be offered in
the future. Take note that the camera does skew the
dimensions of the mage because it is effectively
taking a picture of a picture.
In this size, it does fit onto a Mk1 back window by
the skin of its teeth. It does not, however, fit on a
mk2, not even close. This is not really something to
be put on your car though. From the angle that a
Scirocco window affords you, the image doesn?t come
across well. My original intention is for this to be
a wall art of sorts. If you go to the materials
section of Lowes, you will find that you can get a 60
inch by 36 inch sheet of white fiberboard for about 12
bucks. Attach the sticker, pulling it off slowly to
make sure that every piece of the sticker lays on the
material, and you can get a simple trim for the outer
edges and hang it on your wall. It would also look
good on the side of a race trailer. I have also
already completed drawings of a drag Bug pulling a
wheelie and a BMW 3.0csl coming through a turn on
three wheels. If any one has any interest in a
sticker this size of one of these images please let me
know and I will send you a picture of it. I am already
working on a mk2 scirocco, and Gen 4 and 5 jettas as
well. If you have pictures of your, or any other, car
that might make a good candidate for what I am doing
please feel free to email it to me and I will see if
it will work or not. I want to convey an image of
motion so three wheels(or airborne wheels) and a
leaning suspension(not TOO much though) would be
preferred. It MUST be a high quality image for me to
be able to do what I do.
Ultimately, however, the purpose of this drawing, and
the others like it, is to do the same image out of 1/8
inch thick, mirror finished, stainless steel in sizes
upwards of eight feet long. The image will hang by
itself on any drywalled surface without a frame. In
other words, all of the negative areas of the image
will be the color of the drywall, and everything in
black will be the metal. All of the free hanging
pieces in the image will do exactly that with nothing
around them, no bolts, blemishes or other evident
methods of ?hangage?. I have developed a method of
hanging the image such that it is portable,
rehangable, and any person with basic mechanical
abilities, and tools, can put it up and take it down.
I hope to have one hanging on my own wall, for you
guys to see, in the very near future.
