Steering column bearing

You probably don't *have* to, but it is really hard to reach otherwise. It isn't all that hard to pull the whole thing out. I might recommend it anyway. I finally did last summer, and I found out that all the plastic bushings had completely disintegrated after 30 years. My steering feel is much better now.

Are there any tricks to installing the lower steering column bearing.I'm going to tackle it this weekend while the steering rack is out.Does the shaft have to be pulled completely out?
