i would buy a rabbit if it weren't for the price. overall it's much
cheaper than many of the other vw's (only! $15,500) and it has all the
same amenities as sciroccos do. it's still a little pricey for me,
though, as the vw philosophy was supposed to be a people's car. it seems
like they're trying to move upmarket, sacrificing customer brand
loyalty. there had been talk about vw bringing a new compact to chrysler
(ala the polo) but chrysler said it was too small. but i digress.
if i had the cash i would buy a rabbit. not too fond of the
taillights, but certainly roomier and could make a decent small family
car with little kids in the back.

on another note, in regards to the new scIROCco, i think the thing
that bothers me most about this is that if it doesn't sell well, vw will
get it in their head that 1) americans do not like hatchbacks (still)
and 2) they don't like the scirocco name. i'm afraid that it would go
down the same path as the corrado, fizzle out, and vw wouldn't make a
nice scirocco ever again. my two cents.
