Appraisals, since its slow

Yeah, so I got several of my cars done on the weekend. Even some of the
stuff that's not so pretty. Why you might ask?
Well, for one, it's not that difficult/expensive, and its good for five
years.
The main reason? The ones I had done were three 88s and my 79. Unless your
car started out being worth 100 grand, once the insurance company has
devalued them for twelve years or so, they'd be worth about $1000 on
average. Maybe. Are you ready to write your car off for an accident
equivalent to hitting a raccoon? Didn't think so. (I chose that example
because we've had two raccoon strikes in this household, one at $800 damage
(bug), one at $1100 (Mazda))
Another reason? Theft recovery. Should your car get stolen and "recovered"?
Those BBS mesh rims are ON THE APPRAISAL, so you'll get paid what it costs
to replace them, not crappy steelies. That goes for any go fast stuff/
electronics that gets stripped. Mind you, I'd pull that NOS off so they
don't know about it <wink>.
And then you'll say, well, it'll raise my premium. Not likely, it's not
like your car became an Escalade overnight. If you think about it, even a
very good Scirocco isn't worth that much compared to some of the new
hardware kicking around out there.
The only downside is you have to get off your butt, and call someone to get
it done. I have one more benefit, now I can put the Cabby on Silver Wheels,
and it'll be $100 for the whole year for insurance. That's their minimum
charge. :)
