e-brake handle?..

"The other piece is about an inch and a half long, has a radius on one

The piece Dan's refering to here is the "Ratchet mechanism" in this
picture: http://grum.com/temp/ebrakehandle.jpg

It's been a while since I've had to do mine. IIRC, I pulled the
button out a bit, rotated the mechanism forward (towards front of car)
and then slowly push button back until the hook end lines up with the
rounded end of the mech. Of course, this must be done with handle
pulled up off the geared piece, so the mech. can turn freely. Once
you have it aligned with the hook, lower handle down to where the
bottom end of the mech grabs the geared piece.

That's how I always did it and once you've done it a couple times, it
only takes about 45 sec. to redo. :)

One part is fairly large with teeth on the front edge and has a hole that the e-brake pivot pin goes through. The other piece is about an inch and a half long, has a radius on one side and a couple teeth on the other. The radiused side mates with a curve in the metal rod attached to the button. This piece always magically flops over and prevents the button from being inserted. Pull the button out a little, rotate the piece back away from the button, push the button rod over it and rotate the piece into the curve of the button rod. Then hold everything in place while you reinstall the handle in the car.
