1.6L Head Solid Lifter?

I just wanted to confirm, but the old 1.6L engine had a solid lifter head?

I am picking up another mk1 with a dead 1.6 in it.  I noticed it has a 
neuspeed adj. cam gear, so I figured when I pull the cover it will 
probably have an old 260 cam or something in it.  But all my heads are now 
hyrdo :(

Is it really that bad running a solid lifter cam in a hydro head ;)
