My fast, and a questionable cold air intake???

Kind of ramblings, just a couple of things I wanted to get out there:

And, a friend of mine has been having odd car touble.  She came by so I could
verify what type of fuel filter was installed, as to avoid picking up the wrong
one (2 were listed). While speaking about her (soon to be ex-) husbands
questionable automotive knowledge, she told me tales of how he was blowing the
fuel filter out with an air compressor, expelling "chunks of stuff". Shortly
after that, she mentioned something about a homemade "cold air intake", and
suggested I pop the hood and take a look. I about died:

Yup... That tube is going where you think it's going:

...right from the radiator exhaust, and straight to the air box.

This is perhaps the best attempt at a HOT air intake that I have ever seen.

She mentioned that he didn't have time to block off the other inlet (which
actually sucks cold air). Thank goodness he was in a hurry that day! :)

Next week I will be indoing that mod, along with a mild tune-up, including
replacement of the likely-to-be-performated fuel filter.
