MkI fuel accumulator question

Though never seeing the insides of one...
The FP feeds fuel into a resivoir of fuel via a diaphram/one way valve The pool stays fairly constant in pressure dispite the pulsing fuel feed. (Sort of like a filter cap on a power supply or the tank at the back of the toilet.
What are the symptoms of your car again?
