90mm vs 100mm - Now a dumb question from a dummy



I agree that unless you have alot of power it probably isn't worth it. Both my nephew with his turbo Scirocco and a friend with a supercharged Bunny are running 90mm axles with no problems.

Also, there was another comment in this thread about CV interchangeability. It's worth noting that there were two different styles of 90mm outer CV's. One is retained by a sort of smooshed or "D" shaped ring that snaps onto the shaft on the end. This style can be removed simply by hammering the CV off the shaft.
The other style (earlier I believe) was retained by a circlip on the inboard end of the CV. This clip was round with tangs extending outward at the ends of the clip. You need to squeeze the tangs together to remove this style of CV.
The CV's are different, the shafts are different.
