90mm vs 100mm - that is the question

Well
Just so you know. Brett and Anson were able to successfully marry at 90mm
shaft & outer CV with a 100mm inner. The splines and everything are just
fine. The main difference is there is one clip missing that 100% holds the
CV shaft together, but but unless the strut falls apart the CV shaft will
stay together

So Here is what I know about the axles.
Pre ~1984 all were 90mm axles
around the same time the CV axles and hubs went thru a change ( documented
in Bently manual -- 16v version at least) and new 90mm axles will not rotate
freely in old hubs. While old 90mm will work fine in new hubs.

The splines on the axles (non-CV joints) are the same from 90mm to 100mm as
proved by several tech notes on getting 4k's to work in 100mm systems.

What is not clear is if the lengths of the 100mm shafts are the same length
as the 90mm shafts (new or old)

BTW all of the above statements are from personal experience.
