Familiar Names!

Maybe this will jog your memory. I first joined the list in 1995 or 1996
while stationed in Germany. I had the 81 Scirocco and 89 Scirocco Scala
over there (both Euro spec). Then I moved to Utah and found a very clean 88
Scirocco 16V from a dealer that was closing down. I paid $1400 for that car
in 1998. It was a great deal for a great car but unfortunately it was
demolished by an old lady who decided it was nap time while she was driving.
Unfortunately, my Scirocco was the first car in her path. So after that, I
drove to Kansas City for the "replacement" that turned out to not be as
advertised and was an utter disappointment. I drove all the way back to
Utah Scirocco-less and bought a 82 Rabbit convertible from a local doctor
with a new S4 on order. He was a bit of strange guy who wanted to "simplify
life" as he described it. That Rabbit was a blast to drive with a Callaway
boosted Audi 2.0 and 14.4 quarter mile (not super fast but enough to piss
off many Camaros and Mustangs in a "girly" car - heheh). In 2001, we were
relocated to mid Missouri (Whiteman AFB). The little Rabbit was even
quicker at this lower altitude and apparently finally had enough. I sold it
on eBay for $1800 (with a damaged engine!). After that, I bought an 85 GTI
for work duty. I had that for a couple years and sold it to a co-worker.
So... I've been VW-less for 2 years now...

Wow, I always thought I stayed to far below the radar that I was
underground, lol. Nice to be remembered though. How are ya Mike?

I have to admit that I remember your name, but everything else escapes me
right now. I should prollie hit the list archives and get a memory jog.
