87 alternator woes

Don, thanks for checking. So the box-o-parts was almost as advertised
but for 5 bucks I am still happy. I still have all the pulleys and now
the PS bracket instead of an alt bracket. I will just do the cut down
version of that one.
Would you be able to send me the diagram from ETKA of how this PS
bracket mounts up?
Thanks, Rick

It appears not to be native to a Scirocco but golfs and Jetta.? It is
the power steering part of a two part bracket for Non AC setup.

Don, I am not sure what all the parts were in this box, it was supposed
to be a non AC alt bracket and pulleys; so for a few bucks I picked it
up however.??I do not think the bracket is a PS bracket or at least any
one that is on my 16V.

Pause while I go out to the garage and dig through boxes

Here is the number if anyone can look it up:
026.145.515
I would be glad to send anyone a pic if it turns out to be a real non
AC, Alternator bracket.
Thanks, Rick

You got an Aluminum one!!? Normally they are made of cast iron (really
heavy) and just the power steering part is aluminum. I bought one of
the few still left at dealerships last year.

Chris, yes I defiantly saw and filed your post.I used your pictures to
compare to a bracket I have.I picked up a non AC bracket and all the
corresponding pulleys (PS included) at a local swap meet.I could not
confirm at the time that it really was a non AC setup but the price was
right. The bracket I have is aluminum and does not look at all like the

one you have.At some point in time I may ask someone to look it up in
ETKA or just match it up to a block.
Thanks, Rick

Did anyone see this?Just wondering... It's seems a little unusual not
to
get any response on this since there were quite a few people interested
in
NON AC brackets.

Also I went to VW and there are two seperate bolts that go into this
bracket
from either side of the alternator.$15 for both.

$1160 for a pair of OZ Aristo's if Pep boys has to replace.

Well I got home from NC, with my alternator hanging by a thread.I have

to
replace the blue exciter wire's lug and the main 12v between the
alternator
and the starter... I may be able to put a new lug on it but the wire
seems
semi hosed.

ALSO for those of you that asked--the part number for the 16v NON AC
alternator bracket is as follows:

GF 200 599 W
027 260 885 P
Germany

I have pics below.I have to get the damn snapped off bolt out before I
can
reassemble.

If you look close you can see the snapped off bolt... The bolt sticking
out
on the bottom is the one that got me home by holding half of the
alternator
down.It isn't the bastard in the bracket.

Hope this helps.
Chris

Also... PEP BOYS is run by a bunch of idiots.I swear.I watched some
SUPERGENIUS use the edge of my OZ Aristo's as a fulcrum when he was
breaking
the bead on the old tires. The manager went out there and ran his
finger
across the chipped clear coat and said that it didn't hurt it.Both
sides
have a chip in the clearcoat bigger than my thumb nail!!!

This was on top of getting royally @#$%'ed by the Navy on the way out
the
door.12 years?Disabled?Well here's a BILL thanks for playin'
bu-bye!

Not that I am bitter or anything.
