I got mine from the dealer too, some time back. Prior to that, I'd been
advised to use something called crocus cloth to remove the scoring. It's
like sandpaper, but with sort of round feeling grit. I had someone else
doing the work at that point, so I can't comment further, but I ended up
with new flanges, which still leaked, so I used it as an excuse to buy a
diff ;)
