starting issues after installing cam

Car is a 87 scirocco 16V. It started before me replacing all these things. Looking for a little help as to what direction I need to look in. I replaced the cams with some TT cams and adj. cam gear I had in another head. Had a friend verify all timing marks were correct on the head. Replaced intake boot (verified it had no cracks) injector o rings, spark plugs and oil pan gasket. Car cranks, gets spark and fuel but won't catch. Only thing I haven't done was make sure the injectors are spraying, although when I pulled the plugs they are all wet. I also tried turning the dist. back and forth to see if it mattered and it didn't. Any suggestions / feedback?
