Failing that, identify and yank the coolant level control unit from
the relay plate.


...aka the fuse block. You may not have to even yank it...this same thing happened to me and for the life of me I could not pull that relay. It was STUCK. After trying for five minutes, the flashing light went away...probably just
wiggling the relay around restored good pin connection?

It has this habit of going south, making the light
flash intermittently, often even if the over-flow bottle is unplugged.
 The relay is position number 18, third row, first one on the right
(passenger's side of the relay plate)  Note the first two rows are
part of the  fuse panel/relay plate, and  the third and fourth rows
are "piggyback" rows that clip together a bit like funky German
lego... :)
