electrical problem

After experiencing something similar in the past, and hearing that your
battery is in the trunk, I believe you have experienced a sudden short
to ground.  The exact situation is likely that your positive battery cable
has been comprimised and has shorted to the chassis.  My advice would be
to pull the whole cable out of the car and inspect it carefully...if what I
think has happened actually did, it won't take looking very hard to find it. :)
