RE: VIN on Rain tray or NOT?



The Mk.1 dash VIN plates are actually not riveted, at least not on '78-81.
It looks like they are rivets, but they are just pins, with ends that are
split, to keep them in place.

You can easily lift the pins out with a small screwdriver.

Easily changed.. That's why in California they record the rivet type
that attaches it.  And they require a second place to confirm it.  If
the cars been resprayed, the driver door jamb sticker is often gone.
So says the verifier that checked my car.
