I was pushing her pretty hard to go VW, and she ended up finding a 98
passat for $4500 in good shape and with extremely complete service
records.  I'm just excited for her to be a part of the VW family, if
you will, so I wanted to share.  I can't wait to go home and start
tinkering with it, too ::evilgrin::
