I may change that out anyway, then.
By an amazing coincidence, I bought a new OE ground cable 10+ years ago and
never used it.....

I was talking about the engine to chassis grounds and battery to chassis
grounds. I had a similiar problem with mine some time ago and it was the
grounding strap from engine to chassis that was bad
