mk1 headlight problem

My problem is I have no low beams. Turn on the high beams and all four lights
work. Went to replace the switch and noticed that it appears one wire is
missing. Where the switch plugs in there are two sockets marked 30. One has a red
wire and the other has nothing with pieces of and old wire left inside. I
don't see any obvious loose wires. Anyone know what color wire is supposed to plug
in here?
