My #1 suspect is the Hall Sensor in the Distributor, really it's
connector. The wires in the Dist get brittle and lead to missed ignition.
Another trouble spot is the fuel pump relay, easy to swap out a
replacement, or jumper around. (Reply if you need info on relay jumpering.)
Air, Fuel, Spark. One is cutting out (or in too much in the case of air
usually).
Forget these guys who say scrap the FI in favor of carbs*, they sound
like air cooled VW guys. Shame them into admitting they cant fix your
car. Take it somewhere else anyway.

*Carbs have advantages in some respects but it ain't a way to fix a
broken FI system. Fix what's wrong or potentially compound the problem.
