Installed 120 amp Audi Alternator

Larry,
It think the voltage settings might be slightly different between the two. When I measured the voltage output of the 90 amp alternator I got 13.8 volts but on the 120 amp alternator I now measure 14.65 I also like the fact that I am not pushing the upper limit of the 90 amp alternator with all the electrical crap I am running i.e. High watt stereo, high wattage euro lights, etc... The euro lights alone account for almost 600 watts with the high beams on. If I remember P=IV, Power = current x voltage so:

with the 90 amper my capacity would have been:
90 x 13.8 = 1242 watts

with the 120 amper:
120 x 14.65 = 1758 watts

Do you know what the voltage regulators are set for? I am just going off what I measured. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse just curious.

Don

What I should have stated originally is that the "maximum" voltage of the
alternators should be the same, whether they are 70A or 120A. (Within normal
spec tolerances, of course) My oversight.
