Oops, my bad. I mentally saw an 86 GT as GTI and that = A2 chassis to me.

Rereading the thread with this in mind I'd think you may have the back 
end settling in the future as an issue to contend with.

But at this point my seemingly helpful suggestions diminish so I shall 
withdraw.

(btw- is anyone able to actually see the parts listed by clicking on the 
links provided? It takes me to the main site, but not to the parts 
described. Searching for the part number shows a late model Volvo and 
describes Bumpers for Sciroccos.)

btw II, I don't see a GT, I do see GTi (note lower case i, grrr).  I 
keep coming up with bumpers.
