A hinge is a hinge. :)
I would think the hardest part would be bolting the hinges and the latch to
the Scirocco body without having bolts/screws looking cobbled-up... and
getting the planes all lined up.
I wonder if it's worth the trouble?

I thought the hardest part was to source glass that had a hole in it for the
hinge to fasten to?

I did see someone ealier say that the Cavalier hinges would be the hot
ticker, however I did not think they were going to use the glass out of it.
Is that the case?

I have always wanted to do this to the GTI...
