Could be a Stanley "Yankee" screwdriver you saw.  Kind of an antique
these days after the advent of the battery operated screw guns.  Great
mechanical marvel, reverseable.. but keep the webbing between your
thumb and index finger clear of the shaft.  Nasty pincher.
