77 from MO - title issues, what are my options?

I am sure each state is different, but here in OK, you can file for a lost
title, which includes posting 3 public notices (at a grocery store for
example), stating that you are going to hold an auction for the cost of the
storage of said vehicle, and waiting at least 3 weeks for the previous owner
to see and respond to the notice. On the day of the notice, you finish the
paper work, take it to the tag office, and they charge you two years
licensing, title fee and sum other stuff, came up to about 125.00 on
my '81... I am sure that MO is different, but it gives you an idea of what
king of work might be involved though...
