2.0 blocks/install

Chad, the 2.0l 16V (9A) motors were available in the 90-92
Passats/GLI/GTIs. As far as price goes I can tell you that I picked up
my Passat (with 100k) for $250 and I know of others in our local club
that have paid about the same for their Passats. My parts Passat had a
blown automatic transmission which is a common problem with them.
IMHO, the easiest conversion is to use your existing CIS-E and
the 16V head. No need to move much of anything on the fuel
delivery/engine management. If you plan on porting work, the 2.0 head
has more room for the machinist to work with. If you do not plan on
porting work then the 1.8l head is an upgrade for the 2.0l motor. If
you intend to keep the Motronic FI and management system there are
adaptors for the injectors or you can move the entire system over to the
passenger (A2) side.
If you are interested in upgrading the 9A from it's stock 134
hp, the 1.8l head is an upgrade (~10hp), euro intake cam (~5hp), chip
for the Motronic (~10hp) and finally a nice free flowing exhaust.

Subject: 2.0 blocks/install

Hey where would I find a 2.0 block for my 16v? What other cars had
these blocks? What is the cost on a new block? Is there somewhere with
details on components needed and installation into a rocc?
