Wheel offset for 16" rims Q

I know on 14's 15's et38 seems to be the rule but I was looking at 16's 
7.5" wide, would the same rules apply? I know a lot of folks are running 
BMW BBS rims at et25.... 19mm out of the question?

You guys (and gals) running 7.5" rims speak up!
