Are my gears damaged?

4K tranny in the rebuild process, I took the fill plug out and looking at the gears, I can see the edges aren't even; i.e. there are slight "divots" on the edge, fifth gear seems to have 3 on each tooth, the rest less.  Very small but visible, I couldn't get my digicam to take any good pics of it.  The rest of the gear looks ok.  Am I screwed?  Or is this normal?
