rear bearing cotter pin ...

Hey all,

I decide dto do my rear brakes this afternoon, and everything was going 
well until I tried to install the new cotter pin. I just can not get 
the damn thing in ... I tried hammering it in and the damn thing just 
keeps bending, does anyone have a special technique to install it? Or 
did I jus tdo something wrong>>?
