Preferred Transaxle for 2.0l conversion?

Peter, Thanks for the response. I had first thought that, at a minimum,
the flanges had to be replaced. This would be a good upgrade for anyone
that needs new axles to just go with the 100 mm.

The 100mm flanges swap right over...

I have a 4K in my '79 16V, it's great, but it could use an .80 5th gear.

Jeff,
Are you having any problems with the smaller axles?
Thanks, Rick K.

yes - the 4k is the really tight ratio 8v tranny that came in most of
the
'84 VWs. My cabby is an '84.5 so the 4k was stock and already had
smaller
axles.

But talk to Ron - with the later 8v bellhousing you can swap in 100mm
flanges.
