9 Minute clutch change!
I use one of those rigs between the fenders so I can lower the engine down
quite a bit. I've found it makes it much easier to install the
transmission when the engine is dropped down on the flywheel side as far
as the exhaust will allow for. Having the engine at TDC when you
drop/install the transmission lines up a cutout on the side of the
flywheel that helps to get the driveshaft flange past as well.
I couldn't imagine doing the job with a jack - you'd lose the ability to
finesse the gearbox on every plane - and the risk of getting your shirt
tails caught between the bellhousing and the block would be basically
nullified - where's the fun in that? :)
