Increase the rigidity/quiet of your A1...

Well, in this case, purely for increasing rigidity of the car itself
 As far
as it holding up better in a roll-over, I will not be the first to test it

:-)

 David

Don't assume foam will be a fitting substitute for a roll cage.
The SCCA won't, the NHRA won't, NASCAR won't, your mother won't, etc.

Hello Scirocco Listers,
It is I, your favorite pest... :)

I mentioned on another post some time back about using expanding foam in
the cavities of our cars to increase rigidity and lessen unwanted
road/engine noise, and a few replied that you were interested... I aplogize
to those that responded, as I have lost your names... Please reply once
more, and I will do a better job of keeping up with it in the future... I
also apologize for taking this long to post the link to the Vortex post I
made some time back discussing it, as well as the article from Sport Compact
Car discussing it further... I have been all over this, and I plan to buy
some for at least three cars... It then occurred to me that some of you may
be interested in this as well, so here is a direct inquiry for all of you
intersted in participating in a group buy, please let me know...

The article in Sport Compact Car is as follows...

http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/projectcars/0006scc_proj300zx

Look near the end for the mention of the foam... I recommend reading the
whole articl though, as you will see that they intend to double the
horsepower of that 300ZX. They thought about a roll cage, but decided that
in that car, it was not feasible for a road-going two door. This is what
piqued my interest, as I am 6'4", can really cannot manga losing more
interior space, I need all that I have left and then some... That, and the
fact that this is cheaper than a roll cage, AND it has sound dampening
abilities too? Seems like a win-win situation...

The manufacturer is as follows...

http://www.itwfoamseal.com/

As far as we can tell, it would cost us about 150.00 or so including
shipping to do each car, and that is if we went crazy and did all open
cavities (as I intend to do

If you are interested, or even if you are not and you are bored and need
something to read, (;-)) I invite you to look over the forwarded material
and see what you think... While I am no expert, I will be happy to field as
many questions as I can...

Let me know what you all think...

Regards,
   David Utley
