9A and PL blocks same height?

I was having a discussion the other day at our local VW club meeting and
the topic of the 2.0l 16V motor and the 1.8l 16V motor came up. One
member was sure that the two 16V (9A and PL) blocks were different
heights, I had thought that they were the same height and that the 2.0l
8V (ABA) block was the taller block
The 9A and the PL blocks are the same height, correct?
