Smog check in CA

The Test only designation simply means that they cannot do any
adjustments or repairs to the car on site.  

In CA a car has to be 30 years old to be exempt so 2004-29 = 1975 model
year car.

Hell, I passed with an 100k miles motor, headers a hot cam....and a
hollow cat.

For all you CA listers with great aspirations of owning a turbo or other
smog illegal car......check out the dmv site for the counties that only
require smog check on transfer of title.  IF you know anyone with an
address in those counties, you can register your car at that address
and.................well figure the rest of the secret out yerself.

Well it's that time again.  Has anyone in CA had to take a vehicle into

"Test-Only Station"?  What do they do there different that other
stations?  Any 
tips or things I should know about before going?  How old does a car
need to be 
before they stop the smog checks?
