Subject: new car: what should i get?

i'm looking at getting a new/pseudonew car, especially since i'll have
a couple of nickels to scrape together come springtime. the rules:
~2000 or newer, 20-30k range. i'm torn between practicality (i haul
stuff, and this would be a dd) and fun (i'd love a 2 seat
convertable). the other options would be fun+beater truck/jeep or
fun+trailer. some ideas:
m3 convertable: pros: fun, kinda practical cons:expensive, heavy
350z roadster: pros: fast, cool, not too expensive cons: heavy, not
practical
s2000: pros: fast, cheap, light, sporty cons: least practical of the
lot, it's a honda, minimal low end. this is probably what i'm leaning
towards at the moment.
rx8: pros: cool, quirky, good tradeoff between fun/practical,
relatively cheap cons: poor mileage, cheesy speedometer, not a
convertable. this is neck and neck with the s2000 right now.
others in the running, if i don't NEED a convertible: g35, m3 sedan, s4,
wrx.
any comments/others that i've forgotten. yes, i know vw's aren't on the
list.

Well,
If you go the way of a truck, I would recommend a Toyota. They hold their
value like gold, and are very rugged for the money. Also, they are rated
very high in a wreck... As far as a sporty something, I would be down for
an R32. But that is me. $20-30K is not something I am likely to have for a
car in a looooooooong time... :(
Cheers, and good luck with your search...
