oil temp

hello, i have a question for someone who can advise
me, as i was driving to texas today to search for a
door, i noticed that above 3700 RPM my oil temp rose
above the normal 95C to 100C degree indication to over
120C.  on my way back it went even higher, topping at
almost 140.  outside temp was about 32C, or around
90F.  the coolant temp stayed right in the middle,
which it normally does not do when i'm driving around
the city here, although the oil temp stays the same
then.  what is the correlation with the RPM being
higher than 3700 and oil temp rising??  can someone
tell me, and should i be worried about this???  at
what temp will the engine melt???
