Tires revisited

Well Cathy, if I can speak on this one; using same company type rubbers and
same type tires (Khumo's V rated) on 15x7 rims. But this applies to 14's as
well.

When I have the 205-50's on my 2l Scirocco it feels comfortable and stick
unto the road in any condition, curves or straights.

But with the 195-60's the cars feels like, using a racing term; loose.

The 205-50's are very stable and the car never squealed in a fast curve, but
feels like too sticky sometimes (tight), unable to spin the tires off the
line in second, but possible in first.

The 195-60's are stable, easy to squeal in curves, but the car feels like it
flies off the line, tires can be spun without a problem in first and second.

Personally for daily driver and price, longevity, I would use an S rated
(soft walls) tire 195-60's, but usually recommend for the difference in
price look into the same tires in V rated tires, that feeling of driving off
the sidewalls will disappear.

If you are like most of us, and you like the scirocco for the spirited
driving, then I would go with wider and higher rating V or Z rated because
they just stick and the side wall become and are truly part of the
suspension at those speed and curves.

Now on the other extreme of things, how much will I hate 195/60/14s? I
have a free set, and think I may toss them on Klaus, but will they still
feel pretty rolly? The current 13s feel like they are going to slide off
the rims when I corner hard.

Just curious, Cathy
