Spotted one of the GRM cars today

That *was* Big Mac.

He didn't blow the engine, he lost a shift linkage bolt.  Got it righted
(zip ties, in an emergency, make a great bushing material), and back out
for their best run of the day.  They never got the WOT code values high
enough to trigger the bottle, so never used it.

Now, a guy in a '77 Rabbit did something close:  Mis-shifted, got into neutral,
and squeezed.  The resulting backfire folded the fuel metering plate into a
roughly cone-shaped feature and shredded the intake boot.  This car was running
a 2L 16V swap.
